Homeless Teen Writer Update

Hello everyone. Today’s update is this: CNN pulled the story in on their website and also have been running it on the CNN ticker.
In addition, NBC aired a segment which Katy has placed on her blog.
We have contacted even more news outlets today and I will keep you informed. In the meantime, Katy and Liz have enough money to stay in the hotel a little while longer and Liz is still hopeful for a job. An attorney has volunteered to help with some ex-landlord particulars and another gentleman is helping Liz with her resume. Katy reports that she had several emails this morning from other well-wishers. They remain so grateful (and a little overwhelmed) with the help.
I don’t know about the level of donations yet but will let you know as soon as I get a hold of the appropriate people and find out.
Thank you all for your support of these two and please remember, they are not the only ones homeless, especially right now with our tough economic times. Please consider helping out other homeless people if you can and if you have a roof over your head, be grateful this week.
UPDATE 8:30 PM, PST. Brandilyn reports that Katy’s blog views were up to 22,000 earlier. I see that they are now up to almost 24,000. Her followers have increased to 83. Also, another angel has paid for two more nights at the hotel.

I hope everything works out for them. Times are so tough, and it breaks my heart that anyone would have to go through this.
Keep your heads up! You will make it through.
Thanks for the great information. Wish you great 2009.
Thank you Elizabeth and Abu for caring! -Julie
I have experienced the misery of homelessness at several points in my life and, although there is a certain sense of freedom to it, it is a dangerous and miserable lifestyle that is hard to rise out of. I invite you to my website: http://www.FreetheGods.com. There you will find pictures I have taken of homeless people, articles, and stories about homelessness. I always give them a dollar or two for the privilege of photographing them. Usually, I am surprised by their cheerfulness and sense of pride. Often, they will show themselves to have some kind of talent. There is a fine line between genius and insanity.
